There are good bugs and there are bed bugs. Most of the good bugs don’t hang out in your home, but there are some that are OK in your home. Spiders are one of those bugs that can be both good and bad when it comes to sharing your living space.
If you’re concerned about bugs in your home, one way you can work to prevent them is to keep the clean and organized home. However, sometimes those still sneak in. Here are some of the bugs you might find in your home and what they might be doing to the things inside your house.
Killing Your Clothing
If you have clothes in storage and you pull it out and it has holes in it, you probably have a moth problem. Aside from keeping mothballs in your attic and storage places, you can invest in some moth killer. It’s far cheaper to get rid of your mouth problem than it is to replace all of the clothing and furniture they may destroy.
There are weevils and other bugs that you can find in older toys and clothing as well. And, bookworms are even a real thing. Make sure you store important items in safe containers that keep bugs and critters out.
Getting In Your Food
There are lots of bugs that can get into your food. Sugar ants can be a big kitchen nuisance. If you live in a warmer climate and you don’t sweep up the mess on your kitchen floor, you’re likely to end up with an infestation of cockroaches.
You might even want to consider storing foods, like flour and sugar, in plastic or glass containers. There are different types of worms and weevils that can get in your food.
Biting You
There are bugs that will bite that can get into your home. Spiders can bite, but not all of them (some of them are good and will help kill off other bugs in your home). Bed bugs may be the worst of the biters, and if you get them in your home you definitely want to call in the professionals.
Carpenter ants can bite as well. They make their nests in rotted wood in your home, and they burrow in the wood. It often takes an exterminator to find their nest.
Helping With Other Bugs
There are other insects that can infest your home, including different varieties of bees. Wasps and yellow jackets can be pretty scary inside the house, but they do usually simply come in from the outside. Mosquitoes can also be a pain when they sneak in.
Don’t let bugs ruin your day. Look for info on natural ways to get rid of them, and call in help if you find you have any kind of an infestation.
